Challenge
According to a recent Baymard Institute study on cart abandonment, up to 14% of users leave their shopping carts at checkout because they don’t know the recipient’s shipping address or don’t have it handy.
That equates to thousands and, in some cases, millions of dollars in lost revenue. Not to mention, a poor customer experience.
For personal gifting, asking the recipient for their address ruins the surprise of sending a gift. For business reasons, such as a post-sales meeting, the recipient may feel uncomfortable giving their address.
In both instances, whether the gifting experience is successful or not, is determined by knowing the recipient’s delivery address. Simply put, the thought doesn’t count if the gift never arrives.
Solution
Gipht worked closely with Colorado Crafted to create a campaign focusing on reducing cart abandonment, re-capturing lost revenue and educating customers about a simple application that solves for not having, or not knowing, the recipient’s delivery address.
This campaign included a cart abandonment and education email sequence encouraging Colorado Crafted’s customers to use the free Gipht application on Shopify, where gift recipients can quickly and easily provide their address through text or email when the gift-giver doesn’t know it.
Results
Within a short, 6-month period in 2023, Colorado Crafted was able to capture 3.5% of lost sales with the simple Gipht solution. Not only did this improve financial results, but it also improved the customer’s overall buying experience.
Based on the success of this effort, Colorado Crafted has a button on their website at checkout featuring Gipht, in case shoppers don’t have the recipient’s deliver address. They also promote Gipht throughout their website experience and in all of their marketing materials.
